Sails CrossSecurities
Securities that can be held on-chain or via traditional bank/brokerage custody — and crossed from one form to another at will.
Full Definition
Sails CrossSecurities are bonds, shares, or RWA (Real World Asset) tokens issued on the Sails.to platform that exist in a unique dual-format structure. They can be held either:
- On-chain: As Solana tokens with 24/7 trading, instant settlement, and self-custody capabilities
- Bankable: As ISIN-bearing securities held through traditional bank/brokerage custody via Clearstream
The defining feature of CrossSecurities is format portability: holders can cross between on-chain and bankable forms at any time through the CrossConversion process. The underlying security remains the same — same rights, same ownership, same legal standing — only the custody rails change.
Why It Matters
Traditional tokenization platforms force a choice: blockchain-native tokens (inaccessible to institutional investors) OR traditional securities (missing blockchain benefits). CrossSecurities eliminate this trade-off.
For Investors: Start with on-chain tokens for cheap transfers and 24/7 liquidity. When your compliance requires traditional custody, cross to bankable ISIN format — your position appears in your regular brokerage account. Cross back when it makes sense.
For Issuers: One offering reaches both crypto-native and traditional investors. Unified cap table regardless of which form investors hold. No need to run parallel structures.
CrossSecurities represent the evolution from "tokenized securities" to truly hybrid instruments that operate natively in both worlds.
